Our PTO…
Welcome to St. Anastasia Catholic School! I’ve been lucky to be a part of this wonderful community since 2001 and am continually awed by the extraordinary talents and the level of commitment of our parents and staff. This is truly an amazing place.
Some schools may follow the 80-20 rule where a small percentage of folks work like crazy, but that really is not the case here. All our incredible families donate a minimum of thirty service hours to the school. Each year students are the obvious beneficiaries of the abundant PTO activities; yet parents and guardians find they too are rewarded, as new friends, novel experiences, and fresh causes give a fuller, richer meaning to their lives. OK, I’ll go out of a limb here and say it: “St. Anastasia’s – It will change your life!”
Where to begin? The first step in finding your niche is to study the PTO volunteer forms in your registration package (and available online). These pages outline the diverse ways to become involved: as room parents, for hot lunch, in fundraising, by producing performances, through fine art and science enrichments, at sport banquets and class parties, and even in the office. To name just a few more, there’s the Parish Ball for those talented with social, sales, or database skills, the Adopt-A-Family program for the generous drawn to spread Christmas cheer, and Traffic Safety for parents who can manage a smile and a stop sign in the morning or afternoon.
Wherever your skills lie, opportunities exist here to tap into your talents. Read the website to delve beyond the titles, chat with returning parents or program chairs, discern what areas most appeal to you; and then, most importantly, volunteer! You’ll be so glad you did.
Blessings,
Sue Leifield, PTO President
The PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)
The main functions of the Parent Teacher Organization are to raise funds for the school’s current operational expenses, promote parental support for the school program, and increase mutual understanding between school and parents. The membership of the Parent Teacher Organization includes the pastor, the principal, parents or legal guardians, and the faculty of the school. Financial operation of the Parent Teacher Organization is governed by the regulations for financial operations as found in the Parent Teacher Organization Bylaws.
PTO Business Meetings are open to all parents and staff and are usually held the last Wednesday of each month. General Parents’ Meetings are held twice during the school year in September and May.
