What a great game to end our season.  The girls played their hearts out, and we came up short to a pretty good team.   Our girls have all grown so much as players over the course of the season. I can’t say enough of how our girls battled and cheered their teammates on today.  I know they were upset and disappointed that we didn’t win the game, however I was proud that each and everyone of them was focused on the game today.  I ask each of them to give me 1 1/2 hours of their attention when we play a game.  They gave me more than 110% today, and I as a coach couldn’t have been more proud.  The other team we played was a little deeper than we were.  They had a great pitcher, who kept us in check offensively.  That happens sometimes.  But in games like these it is good to see players respond, especially the young ones.

I also want to take this time to say good luck and farewell to our lone 8th grader Cynthia, who provided us some steady leadership throughout the season.

Again, thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to coach this wonderful group of young ladies.  It was both an exciting and enjoyable experience that I will never forget.  I hope the girls enjoy their summer and come back next year ready to compete for the championship again.

Are you looking for a fun and enriching experience for your 6th and 7th grader this summer?!!!  Please, consider sending your child to the TACSC Summer Leadership Conference and applying for 20 scholarships generously donated by the Msgr. Vadakin Arts and Education Fund.

For those who are unfamiliar with this organization, TACSC stands for The Association of Catholic Student Councils.  It is a non-profit, faith-based, membership organization that is committed to developing life leadership skills in young people so they can lead more effectively and make a difference in the communities where they live.  Don’t let the name misguide you!  TACSC is dedicated to teaching leadership skills to all Catholic school students, not just elected student council members.
For the first time, the Msgr. Vadakin Arts and Ed. Fund committee has awarded funds to send 20 non-elected students to the summer leadership conference.  This year, the 5 day/4 night (sleepover) conference will be held on two college campuses:
Loyola Marymount University:  June 27-July 1
Claremont-McKenna College:  July 11-July 15
The Msgr. Vadakin Arts and Ed. fund scholarships will cover half the tuition (worth $270 each).  Please, have your child/children apply!  It is a great opportunity!  You will be responsible for enrolling your child in the conference and paying the additional $269 directly to TACSC.  The deadline for the scholarship application is May 25.

We experienced our first May Crowning. The kids brought beautiful flowers to present to Mary at our school-wide service.

We got to pull out our special rosaries to take with us to the May Crowning. Together we prayed the rosary.

The kindergarten class got to join in on all the fun at their very first Spring Carnival.

And…tomorrow we will go on our very first field trip!!! Can you say, “Yippie!?!!”. In preparation for our field trip we did a whole group shared writing activity where we outlined the steps to making a pizza. Each student will get to build their own pizza tomorrow at Tony P’s!!!

Each child created their own “How To Make A Pizza” book. They turned out so cute. Be sure to check back for pictures of our fun day!

We also got to visit the 1st grade. The 1st grade proudly shared books that they had written with us.
