• Dear Parents of First Graders,

I would like to welcome you and your child to our first grade family.  I look forward to a very productive year where we will grow spiritually, academically, and socially.

Although we provide many materials, you will need to supply the following for your child:

    1 composition notebook (7.5 x 9.75 inches)

2 clear large zippered pencil cases

24 #2 Ticonderoga (no Staples brand as they break easily) pencils with erasers (pencils should be sharpened)

    2 RED pencils with erasers

(NO DECORATIVE OR TOY-LIKE PENS, PENCILS, OR ERASERS WILL BE ALLOWED.)

    2 soft pink erasers

2 LARGE boxes of Kleenex (no pocket size, please)

1 box of broad tip twistable crayons (24 count encased in plastic, please)

1 box of Crayola WASHABLE Markers (8 count, broad tip) Please make sure a brown and black marker are included in set.

2 LARGE glue sticks (no individual names needed on these)

3 boxes of handi-wipes (for hand use-- baby wipes are okay) Unscented

1 twelve-inch ruler (with inches and metric measure - wood) Please try to buy rulers where numbers are written

    horizontally across ruler.

3 folders (two pockets only) 2 different solid colored folders and 1 fun colored folder

It is very important that the following supplies and uniform items be marked in permanent marker with your child’s first and last name:

    1. sweatshirt and lunch box

    2. backpack and erasers

    3. ruler and folders

    4. notebook and zipper pouches

    5. Each individual twistable crayon

    6. Each individual marker

    7. Each individual pencil

    8. Please label the last three items INDVIDUALLY.  Please use a permanent marker to write name. Do not use name stickers because they fall off too easily.

This tedious task eliminates tears when twistables, pencils, or markers fall on the floor. Thank you so much!

Please note that the following are NOT allowed:

    1. Short jumpers or skorts

    2. Rolling of skorts or P.E. shorts

    3. Oversized shirts and pants

    4. Socks below the ankle and/or sport socks

    5. Backpacks on wheels due to space and safety regulations.

    6. Writing on backpacks is not allowed.   White out is also not allowed.

I look forward to a successful year and to meeting you at Back to School Night in September.

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Melinda Hage
