Hello 2nd grade parents!
Welcome to your first Sunday letter for the 2017-2018 school year! Every Sunday (well, almost every Sunday) I will send you a letter outlining the events of the upcoming week, and any tidbits of information that you may need to keep everything running smoothly! Communication is so important -- especially with Reconciliation and First Communion this year!
Let's get started with some basic information to make your child's first week AMAZING!
Our first day of school is this Wednesday, August 30th from 7:50-12:15.
Thursday and Friday will be from 7:50-12:15 as well.
PE days are Tuesday and Thursday -- so your child will wear his/her pe clothes!
Mass days are on Wednesdays (starting next week) mass attire (no shorts) is expected.
We are blessed to be working on both the Reading and Writing program (Teachers College Reading and Writing Project) out of Columbia University -- Lucy Calkins. Please have your child arrive at school on Wednesday with a LARGE (one gallon) plastic bag of books (4 to 6) he/she is currently reading. It is EXPECTED that you will keep changing the books out as your child finishes them. As emergent readers, it is critical that your child have books that he/she can enjoy reading! Our NEXT Sunday letter will focus on Guided Reading and the goals and successes your child will experience!
That's it for today! I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday!
Blessings and Peace!
