Distance Learning at St. Anastasia
St. Anastasia Catholic School will continue to work towards the development of the whole child on a daily basis. We aim to continue to support students’ academic progress and spiritual development by making Distance Learning Days engaging and supportive, while being as flexible as possible for families.
Our distance learning plan is designed with the following key features:
- Asynchronous learning to ensure the opportunity to learn for all students based on schedule and connectivity
- Synchronous video conferencing to support learning and socio-emotional needs of students through social interaction with peers and teachers
- A commitment to monitoring and improving this plan during the time of its implementation
While Distance Learning does not replicate onsite learning, teachers can deliver powerful instruction based on a robust curriculum that allows students to meet expected grade-level standards in an online environment aligned with the mission of our Catholic schools.
We have developed distance learning instructional schedules that take into consideration the traditional school schedule, developmental age, and instructional minutes guidance. Each day will have a minimum of 180 instructional minutes (including all synchronous and asynchronous work). Teachers will take attendance over Zoom in the morning. There also needs to be evidence of completed student work in order to be marked “present” for the day. Teachers will record attendance on Gradelink. If your child is unable to participate in the day’s distance learning due to illness or other reasons, please contact the school office firstname.lastname@example.org and email your homeroom teacher. Teachers will also hold virtual office hours. The purpose of virtual office hours are to assist students, meet with parents, and connect with families. The virtual office hours will be communicated by the classroom teacher.
The office will be open daily from 7:30 AM-3:30 PM. If you plan to visit campus, you should notify the office to make an appointment. Please wear a face covering at all times in the campus building. If you are experiencing any symptoms, please stay home. We can arrange a Zoom meeting. If you are on campus, you must wear a face covering, maintain social distancing, and complete a brief health screening.
