Welcome Fr. Leszek!

St. A's New Parish Administrator

Fr. Semik

My name is Father Leszek Semik. I was born July 19, 1967 in Lipowa, Poland. I was raised in a loving home based in Catholicism. I have two older brothers and two sisters, one older and one younger. All of them are married and they live in Poland. My father and mother, who also live in Poland, are very happy and honored to have one of their sons a priest. From a young age I took an interest in the priesthood and already during my elementary school and later during all my high school, I was involved in parish life serving in it as a member of parish choir and as a member of my parish Life Teen. As a kid going to Mass, I always wanted to be a priest. I saw concretely how the priests would help and attend to the needs of people. That’s something that was always very attractive to me.

I went to the Metropolitan Theological Seminary in Krakow, Poland from 1988 to 1994, studying for six years at The Pontifical University of John Paul II where I earned a master’s degree in Philosophy and Theology in 1994. After completing my seminary, I served as Associate Pastor in three parishes in Poland.

When I came to Los Angeles I was first assigned to Saint Dorothyʹs Parish in Glendora where I served for five years. My next assignment was in Saint Elizabeth of Hungary in Altadena where I served for three years and my third assignment was at St. Lawrence Martyr in Redondo Beach.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you where I expect to meet my new family and my new home.

May God bless all of you,
Fr. Leszek
