For over 15 years, St. Anastasia Catholic School has produced student musicals. All interested students in grades 5-8 may participate, and auditions are conducted for specific roles. This extraordinary event culminates in two shows in February, and is part of the Performing Arts Program of St. Anastasia. Students have conveyed numerous stories of how participating in the musical has changed their lives. One child wrote her high school entrance exam letter about the roles that she had in the musicals. She spoke of the confidence it gave her to believe in herself. Other children that start off hiding in the back are smiling and moving with confidence by show time. The musical program is much more than putting on a stage production. Under the umbrella of a school musical, it develops vocal skills, dance, acting, confidence and public speaking. Performances are sponsored in part by the Msgr. Royale M. Vadakin Arts and Education Fund and the William H. Hannon Foundation.
